​​Xi Jinping Sends Congratulatory Letter to US-China Business Council on Celebration Marking the 50th Anniversary of Its Establishment

On December 15, 2023, President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the US-China Business Council (USCBC) on the celebration marking the 50th anniversary of its establishment, extended congratulations to the Council and all its members, and sent his greetings to people from all sectors in the United States who have long cared for and supported China-US economic and trade cooperation.

Xi Jinping pointed out that the world today is undergoing major changes unseen in a century. Whether China and the United States can work hand in hand to tackle the challenges concerns the interests of the two peoples and the future of humanity. Xi said, during the recent meeting in San Francisco, he and President Joe Biden had an in-depth exchange of views on issues vital to the growth of China-US relations, and reached important common understandings. The Chinese side is ready, in principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, to work in the same direction with the US side to implement the deliverables of the San Francisco summit meeting and promote sound, stable and sustainable development of China-US relations.

Xi Jinping emphasized that China-US economic and trade relations, as an important part of bilateral relations, have brought many tangible benefits to the two peoples. China will remain firmly committed to pursuing high-quality development and advancing high-standard opening-up, and to fostering a market-oriented, law-based and world-class business environment. Chinese modernization will provide more opportunities for businesses from the United States and all other countries. There is huge potential, vast space, and a promising future for stronger economic and trade cooperation between China and the United States.

Xi Jinping said, the past 50 years have witnessed the two countries' persistent and joint pursuit of partnership and mutual benefit despite the twists and turns. Xi Jinping expressed the hope that the USCBC and its member companies will continue to build more bridges for friendly exchanges between the two countries and cultivate more bonds for practical cooperation, contributing to a new chapter of win-win cooperation between China and the United States in the next five decades.

On the same day, President of the United States Joe Biden also sent a congratulatory letter to the celebration marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the USCBC.

Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., the capital of the United States, the USCBC is a non-governmental trade organization established by the US side before the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States.
