Consul General Pan Qingjiang Met with the Gauteng MEC for Social Development, Agriculture and Rural Development

On November 17, 2023, Mr. Pan Qingjiang, the newly appointed Consul General of China in Johannesburg, met with Mbali Hlophe, Gauteng MEC for Social Development, Agriculture and Rural Development. The two sides exchanged views on China-South Africa relations, the promotion of local exchanges, and enhancement of pragmatic cooperation.

Consul General Pan briefed the MEC about the latest development of China-South Africa relations and the friendly cooperation between China and Gauteng Province. He expressed that the Consulate General is willing to further strengthen cooperation with the Gauteng Provincial Government to jointly promote the continuous in-depth development of China-South Africa relations at local levels, so as to make more contributions tothe implementation of the consensus reached by the two Heads of State, and create more benefits for the people of both sides.

MEC Hlophe welcomed Consul General Pan on assuming his new post. She said that the Gauteng Provincial Government has always attached great importance to cooperation with China, and has developed friendly relations with many provinces and cities in China. Gauteng is willing to maintain close communication with the Consulate General.

The two sides exchanged views on how to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in agriculture, people’s livelihood, environmental protection and other sectors.
